The Binard Path

Walk between plains and woods to discover a more traditional Haute-Somme with pleasant viewpoints. Start with your back to the Saint-Martin church of Buire-Courcelles. Head up towards the plain and the Legrez woods, follow its edge. Take the path toward the Pierrot woods then descend to Bussu. Climb back up through the plains toward Driencourt. Pass in front of the water tower to reach Driencourt. The church of Driencourt is dedicated to Saint Radegund, queen of the Franks, who as a child was kidnapped by Clothaire before being taken to Saint-Quentin and then Athies, a neighboring village. A modern work from the Reconstruction period designed by architect Jacques Debat-Ponsan in 1929, the church offers a free interpretation of Gothic aesthetics. Follow the plain, a small grove, then the departmental road for a few meters. Cross and then follow the edge of the Buire woods to climb back to Buire-Courcelles.
