Wild cliffs, gentle lakes
The high-altitude hike in the Texel Group Nature Park leads from Algund to Pfelders. Mighty and like a huge wall, the Texel Group rises protectively over Meran to the north. This alpine route is only for experienced hikers.

By chairlift (or car) from Algund to Vellau and from there on foot or by gondola lift to Leiteralm. This is where the actual hike begins. On the Merano High Altitude Trail (No. 24) you hike north to Hochganghaus and along a secured path to Hochgangscharte (2441 m). On paths No. 7 and No. 22 you go to Langsee, the largest of the Spronser Lakes, from where you descend further to Grünsee. Now turn left on the Tyrolean High Altitude Trail (No. 6) and ascend moderately to Spronser Joch (2581 m), the highest point of the hike. The path continues almost flat to Faltschnaljöchl (2417 m) and through the valley of the same name to Faltschnalalm. From the alpine pasture, descend to Pfelders. The local bus takes the hiker back to Meran (last trip around 5 pm) or further from there to Algund.
