Solitary summit in the Kreuzeck group and one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains in the Möll valley.
The Teuchl is one of the most beautiful and natural side valleys in the Carinthian Mölltal. The demanding - over 1,000 meters altitude difference - but scenic route leads on natural paths to the Teuchlspitz chapel, which was built at the end of the 18th century. In the chapel, there is a bell that every hiker should ring at least once. A few meters above the chapel, a new summit cross with two viewing benches was erected in 2022. From here, you have a magnificent panoramic view of the main Tauern ridge, the Kreuzeck and Reißeck groups, and Lake Millstatt. In clear weather, the summit of Großglockner, the highest mountain in Austria, can even be seen on the horizon.

Roadbook
The starting point of the hike is the Teuchler Church (1,271m). From here, follow the asphalt road downstream and turn right at the next fork. After about 15 minutes of walking, you reach the end of the municipal road and turn left at the cattle grid onto the hiking trail. Attention: After about 150 m, it goes steeply uphill to the right. From here, the marked forest path leads about 45 minutes to the Unterweger Alm. The hiking trail leads via Egger's Au Alm to the natural monument "Materle Larch" (1,770m), an ancient larch tree that has so far always been spared from lightning and storms. From here, follow the alpine path parallel to the forest road, and after a short ascending section through a high forest, you reach a hunter's hut in the open alpine terrain. Initially over mountain meadows and then further through partly rocky terrain on the south flank, the hiking trail leads up to the mountain ridge. From here, you can already see the chapel and the new summit cross at Teuchlspitz. The last 15 minutes cross the fields on the summit slope up to the Teuchlspitz chapel (2,320m). From there, it is just 5 minutes to the newly erected summit cross (2,350m). The return route follows the ascent route.

For the drive from Penk to Teuchl, one should allow about 15 minutes driving time.
