Tecchie Forest

Loop hike in the Tecchie Forest starting from the small parking lot in Cà Balbano, following a route that mainly develops through the beautiful forest, reaching nearly 1000 meters altitude at its highest and most panoramic point. The hike starts on a clear path with the first section characterized by a steady but continuous ascent, with a compact surface and some steeper sections that gain elevation decisively. The route develops almost entirely within the forest cover, among beeches and shadier sections, interspersed with some open areas showing a charming landscape such as near the Cà Tecchio hut. Continuing through the last wooded areas, with an uphill path, you reach ridge sections up to the highest part of the route in the Pian della Serra area, around 1000 meters, where the vegetation thins and the view can extend over the surrounding Apennine ridges. Here the path alternates short ups and downs with more linear sections, always on a well-marked path but with an uneven surface in some parts. After the summit section, the descent begins, retracing the route previously covered down to the Serre del Burano. In the final part the itinerary returns to lower altitudes, crossing shaded areas and gentler sections again, until closing the loop returning to the starting point. Physically, the route is not overly demanding but requires a good physical condition due to the overall elevation gain close to 1000 meters and some steep sections, always immersed in a pristine and wild natural environment, alternating between ascent, ridge, and descent
