Via the Kroatensteig to an idyllic mountain lake

The ascent from the Schlechinger Valley over the forested ridge of the Rauhe Nadel is – despite the steep Kroatensteig – an entertaining endeavor with numerous small highlights; firstly, there is the Streichen Chapel with the eponymous mountain inn near the starting point, then the shady ascent through the west slope of the Rauhe Nadel with a view of the Geigelstein. Passing the Donaueralm, we reach the Chiemhauser Alm, which lies a little off the path.Back briefly to the junction and continue uphill until after 150 m the Kroatensteig (signpost) points right towards the Rauhe Nadel. Beyond, descending to an old border guard hut where
