Tarragona: Platja Llarga - Punta de la Móra
Not by some miracle, but simply because the owner refused to sell his land, the coast here has retained its original appearance and looks as it did hundreds of years ago. Shaped by water, wind and waves, steep yellow-ochre cliffs stand above idyllic bays. On their backs they carry fields and rich vegetation with ancient pines and even cedars, while on the shore the caves in the gnawed, salt-crusted rock slabs provide a habitat for a rich marine fauna. The first half of our hike takes us along Platja Llarga, which lives up to its name. We then follow the cliffs across two beautiful bays to the tower on Punta de la Móra. It dates back to the 16th century and unfortunately cannot be visited. There is a campsite on the headland around it. However, the abundance of nature on the way back makes up for this.
