You start at the parking lot in Scheifling in the northwest of the castle hill and hike on an ascending and shady forest path towards the castle. Upon arriving at the vineyards of Taggenbrunn Castle, you are greeted by the first splendid view of the town of St. Veit and the St. Veit basin. Then continue along the vine stocks towards the winery – here you can sample the fine drops of the vineyards. After further circling the castle hill on the east side, you take the path along the switchbacks directly to the walls of the restored castle – here you will find another magnificent view of the historic town of St. Veit. You then hike back down the castle hill along the same path and turn left. After about 500 meters, you have reached your starting point again.
