Although it’s only at a moderate elevation, the panoramic view from Tagamanent on clear days is first-rate. Its summit plateau is crowned by the slightly oversized Church of Santa María, but there’s still plenty of room for cozy nooks where you can enjoy a picnic and take in the view. You certainly won’t be alone here on weekends, but you will be during the tranquil hike through beautiful forests; most visitors drive up the forest road from the village of Tagamanent and only hike the final few meters to the summit on foot.
At the start of the forest road near Aiguafreda, a green metal post with a GR marker indicates the hiking trail. Follow it uphill to the yellow barrier posts, then turn left there onto the hiking trail through dense mixed forest. The trail climbs gently uphill to a power line; at the power pole, turn left onto a forest road and pass the ruins of the old Mas de Puig-agut. The view to the southeast reveals the wooded Tagamanent, crowned by a church. A short while later, in a slight right-hand curve, turn left onto the hiking trail; after crossing the forest road, it rejoins it. Here, take a few steps to the right and then immediately left again onto the hiking trail, which touches the forest road once more and later crosses an old cart track. After a while on level ground, it joins a narrow cart track; follow this straight ahead to a series of forks, where we turn left.
