The Tälispitze is the only summit over 2000 meters in the Walserkamm range, which runs between the Laternser valley and the Große Walsertal. This chain of peaks, built from very steep, notoriously avalanche-prone flysch slopes and interrupted by numerous wild ravines, extends from the Muttkopf near Düns to the Furkajoch.
At the community in Thüringerberg, a paved farm road begins, mainly ascending in wide loops over mountain meadows to the parcel Oberrain, 1120 m. A still paved forest road changes at a fork towards St. Gerold into a flat forest path and shortly thereafter into a trail that leads along steep forest slopes. We cross the Rottobel and eventually reach the farm road coming from St. Gerold via Gaßnerberg to the Alpenheim Gaßneralpe, 1562 m. The Mischalpe, with just under a dozen pigs, stands on a terrain step on the southeast ridge of Melkspitze. A mountain dairy is still operated here. Beyond the forest gorge formed by the Lutz, the dispersed settlements of Raggal stretch out below the Hohen Frassen. Behind the Walga basin, the Rätikon mountains stand proud. After a short refreshment, the sign "Tälispitz" points to a mule track. This crosses, with a pleasant incline, the avalanche-scarred, descending flank of the Melkspitze into the so-called Täli. A path leads to a tiny hut in a pasture
