Bad Bergzabern is located in the south of the Palatinate, where forest and vineyards meet, where the rugged rocks of the Wasgau harmoniously unite with the Southern Wine Route. In close proximity to the Palatinate Forest-North Vosges Biosphere Reserve and a sea of vines, surrounded by quaint wine and forest villages, lies this picturesque spa town. This unique region, which invites you to slow down, was already appreciated by Pastor Kneipp and Tabernae Montanus.
Bad Bergzabern is a gem with a historic townscape, a magnificent castle, idyllic parks, and its very own thermal spring in the Südpfalz Thermen.
Blankenborn, a district of Bad Bergzabern since 1971, lies picturesquely between wooded hills and meadows and was described by August Becker as follows: “...behind it, in the deep mountain basin, completely cut off from the world, lies the little village of Blankenborn hidden in the area of the Abbot's forest...” (The Palatinate and the Palatines).
WATCH OUT! - Campaign for a respectful coexistence in nature
Always behave considerately, friendly, and thoughtfully towards everyone you meet on the way.
Respect nature, do not destroy plants and always stay on the paths. Try to avoid excessive noise and leave the forest before dusk.
Remember to bring a garbage bag for the trip and take your waste back home with you.
Please always keep your dog on a leash. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
For your own safety, observe all path closures, also on weekends.
Park only in designated parking areas. Leave space for emergency vehicles and agricultural machinery.
Give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic, please.

In general:
Especially in autumn, attention must be paid to the fact that leaves on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or rainstorms, trees may still fall or branches may break off afterwards. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or precipices are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in some places. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you believe certain sections are not passable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting associations on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we might not have been informed. Should you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please follow the instructions for your own safety.

Equipment
For our hiking tours, we recommend the following equipment as standard:
Sturdy footwear
Clothing suitable for the weather
Sun and rain protection
A sufficient supply of food and drinks, as there are not always places to stop or shop everywhere or they may be closed.
Even though the paths are consistently well marked, it is advisable for safety reasons to always carry a suitable hiking map, so that, for example, in the case of a thunderstorm or emergency you can quickly find a safe area.
