The entire route is signposted by the Black Forest Club (diamond system).

    Roadbook

We start at the Spitzhütte in Bernbach and take the left of the two right paths, the Holländersteige uphill. We pass directly by the Züflestein and follow the yellow diamond. In a 180° curve, there are views of Althof. At the next crossroads, we continue to follow the yellow diamond and turn sharply right uphill. Keeping left, we reach a turning circle. From there, we go straight ahead and reach the starting ramp of the hang gliders. With a bit of luck, we can watch the Althof dragons flying. But we will definitely not be disappointed by the views into the Murg valley.

We go back to the turning circle and take the right path (yellow diamond) gently downhill. This path soon leads onto a gravel path, which we continue to follow. After a short time, a steep path goes uphill on the right. At the top, we reach the sand path at a crossroads where we turn right along the gravel path. Attention, on our left is the Mauzenstein, which is worth a short detour.

Continuing on the path and always keeping left, we follow the yellow diamond to the next crossroads with Black Forest Club signage. There we turn right onto the path to the Bernstein. The path is lined with old border stones; if you look closely, you can see the coats of arms of Baden and Württemberg as well as the age and numbering of the stones. After a short time, we reach the Bernsteinfelsen natural monument. The hut invites you to rest, or you can climb the summit cross on the Bernsteinfelsen and enjoy the breathtaking panorama into the Murg valley and as far as the Vosges.

At the hut, we pass right and follow the rocky path towards Käppele downhill. After a short time, we reach a crossroads where we turn right and follow the gravel path. At the next large crossroads with a rest area, we go straight ahead, following the path uphill. At the top, we reach a gravel path which we follow continuously on the right side straight ahead. After a while, the "Herrenpfad" branches off right towards Loffenau, but we stay on our path and continue straight. At the next large crossroads, we take the right path and, after circling the Heukopf, reach the Käppele pass height (kiosk & bus stop).

We cross the road and reach the parking lot above the road. From there, we take the right path straight ahead until we turn right onto a small path down to the Rißwasen. Upon arrival, the Rißwasenhütte invites you to rest before taking on the ascent to the "Großes Loch".

We briefly follow the road to the Teufelsmühle uphill until we leave it to the right onto a gravel path. We follow this until we reach the turnoff "entry Großes Loch". We follow the path on the left, partially steep uphill, until we reach the Großes Loch with its devil's chambers. The path leads us further up towards the Teufelsmühle. We reach a gravel path with a bench and briefly follow it left before continuing to follow the rocky path on the right uphill. We cross another gravel path and follow the upper gravel path to the right. After some time, we reach the Grenzert parking lot with the "Heinz-Deininger Observatory". At the end of the parking lot, we follow the path on the right to shortly reach the road. We follow it to the right until it makes a sharp left turn, where we continue straight on the path. After a short time, we turn left and follow the zig-zag path uphill. At the top, we reach the legendary Teufelsmühle with panoramic views of Loffenau and the surroundings, and in good visibility up to the Palatinate Forest.

From the Teufelsmühle, we head towards the höhengasthaus and circle it to the end of the parking lot. From there, we follow the gravel path which we leave shortly afterwards on the left onto a rocky path. We follow this for some time. Here again, we can discover the historic border stones that stand partially in the middle of the path. At the Black Forest Club signpost, we take the path that goes down left to the stone bench. Upon arrival, we follow the gravel path to the right of the yellow diamond until we reach the Hahnenfalz hut.

The Hahnenfalz hut invites you to rest again before we start the descent towards Bad Herrenalb. For this, we take the left path (Brudesweg), which is partially very rocky and steep downhill. We reach a crossroads where we take the gravel road (Treibersweg) down left. At the next crossroads (Axtloh), we return to the path that leads down left. We cross the Teichlochweg and shortly afterwards reach a road which we follow to the right until the Skiheim Talwiese (bus stop).

At the street junction by the Skiheim, we take the left street and follow it straight to a small shed where we continue straight on the field path (Talwiesenweg). Following the yellow diamond, we reach the Hirschwinkel after some time downhill. The Hirschwinkel hut with a barbecue area invites you to rest.

To the left of the hut, we take the Schanzenweg and follow it until we reach the first houses of Bad Herrenalb. We follow the street straight downhill and at the next intersection, we go straight down the small staircase. Straight past the Klosterscheuer, we follow the street through the Klosterviertel am Paradies until the arched gate. We go through it onto the town hall square, cross it to the roundabout. From there, we follow the spa promenade along the Kurhaus to the end of the spa park. Here we cross the street at the zebra crossing and turn left into Bahnhofstraße until we reach the train station.
