Thanks to the gondola lift, the Sulzspitze becomes a ”mountain for all occasions.” We can still climb it, for example, if the weather suddenly improves, and it is suitable for a family tour as well as for an exploratory tour to get a first overview of the Vilsalpsee mountains. Its isolated location makes it an ideal viewpoint mountain.
From the valley station of the Neunerköpflebahn in Tannheim, we reach the upper station very conveniently by gondola lift, 1784 m. From here we ascend in a few minutes on the well-signposted path to the summit of Neunerköpfle, 1862 m, slightly south of the upper station. From the summit, we continue on the path southwards, passing the Vogelhörnle (1882 m), descending slightly along the ridge to a saddle. Here the path leaves the main ridge and crosses the slopes on the left, eastern side. After the longer and almost level traverse, there is a short ascent into the Strindenscharte, 1855 m. From here, we walk for about 10 minutes on the wide and only slightly ascending track southwest to a signposted junction, about 1890 m. Here begins the detour to the Sulzspitze. We take the hiking trail to the right and ascend diagonally to a terrain edge. Beyond the edge, it continues over green slopes and hollows up to the summit of the Sulzspitze.
