Stroller hike: Hello Dino

This hike begins at the Basel Margarethen tram stop. We cross the street towards the St. Margarethen Church and see our hiking destination "Reinach" on the yellow signpost. The short climb through Margarethen Park leads us to the large, open field Acht Jucharte. Passing allotment gardens, the mighty cube of the Bruderholz hospital appears on the horizon. Shortly before the hospital, we turn left onto a marl path running parallel to the street. Soon we see from afar the distinctive 36 m high water tower of the Bruderholz district. We choose the path along the 1815-built fortification and pass the huge dinosaur to the battery, climbing the numerous steps to the tower's observation platform. To get back on the marked route, we retrace our steps and turn left before the fortification. At the next cross street, Giornicostrasse, we see the Bedrettostrasse bus stop in the distance. This allows the hike to be started or ended here. At the end of the marl path, we turn right onto Spitzackerpromenade because the street straight ahead is heavily used by cyclists. After a short distance, we encounter the white signposts of the wheelchair route alongside the yellow hiking trail signs. At the hiking trail junction towards Bottmingen, we go straight and follow the white signs to the junction with the Reinach-Oberwil cycle path. We turn left and find a well-equipped barbecue area with seating at Spitzenhegli after a few minutes. Very close by is the Holi Gass wetland landscape. To avoid a section of the hiking trail unsuitable for strollers, we take the small path to the right along the forest edge before the barbecue area. After less than 100 m, we turn left and thus reach the hiking trail again at a fountain. This leads past the bee house and soon to the first houses of Reinach. Straight ahead, on the Fleischbachstrasse sidewalk, we reach the Reinacherhof tram stop by the shortest route.
