We start this stroll – calling it a hike would really be an exaggeration – at the parking lot of the former Schiffenberg Monastery. Today, the site primarily houses gastronomy and event facilities, so you can conveniently stop there before or after the route.
On the circular path, you can hear noise coming from the forest from a distance. This is from the obviously enthusiastic visitors of a climbing forest that our path crosses.
After that, there isn’t much more to report; we stroll through the forest on wide forest roads, at least on weekends together with many other people.
Since the path has no remarkable ascents, it is truly manageable for everyone, whether on foot or with a stroller.

Schiffenberg Monastery is a former monastery complex on the Gießen local mountain Schiffenberg (281 meters). The double-choir, originally three-aisled pillar basilica with a transept and octagonal crossing tower from the 12th century is largely preserved. Due to its age and architectural significance, it was designated as a nationally significant building in July 2012. In summer, the basilica and courtyard are used for cultural events such as the Gießen Culture Summer and church services. (Source: Wikipedia)
