This hike takes us through quiet forests into the natural valley of the Anhauser Creek. South of the still-used pond chain of Burgwalden, whose ponds are among the most beautiful in the Western Forests, lies the so-called Devil's Valley, where the Anhauser Creek is still allowed to meander quite naturally. Wetlands and extensively used meadows line it, while kingfishers and beavers have their habitat here. By the way, the Devil's Valley was once called Weihental, which points to an Alemannic cult site. To erase this after Christianization, the name was changed.
We start at the bus stop in Straßberg, 542 m, opposite the former Reichsadler inn, from where the castle can be seen. It belonged for a long time to the Bishop of Augsburg, then to Augsburg families, patricians, and later industrialists, reaching its heyday from 1880 when Frieda Forster, wife of an Augsburg manufacturer, rebuilt it in the Italian Renaissance style. But it was partially destroyed by a fire in 1930 and today houses exclusive apartments. We turn left and walk along Frieda-Forster-Straße past the Hl. Kreuz church, largely demolished and rebuilt in 1956/58. When it curves left, we leave it slightly right and go down Reinhartshauser Straße into the valley of Diebelbach, following the "Around the Buchkopf" signage. At the village edge, a gravel path begins. Crossing Diebelbach, we go straight into the forest. Going slightly uphill, we always follow the main path. We leave the Bismarck lime tree, 568 m, (natural monument) to the left and immediately take the marked gravel path
