Ricola now produces about 30 types of herbal sweets. The production of all Ricola products takes place 100% in Switzerland. The story of the Swiss family company dates back to the 1930s. In 1930 Emil Richterich founded the company Richterich und Co. Laufen, from which the later name Ricola was derived.
The Ricola herbs, originating from the mountains in Switzerland, are grown according to organic principles and completely without the use of pesticides or herbicides.
The recipe for the world-famous Swiss herbal sugar remains a well-kept secret. It is only known which herbs are used: narrow plantain, lady's mantle, elderberry, marshmallow, peppermint, thyme, sage, primrose, horehound, burnet, speedwell, mallow, and yarrow. By the way: each Ricola herbal sweet contains a piece of the original. The magical 13-herb mix forms the basis of every Ricola herbal sweet.
