STM-DW - Muott'Ota

The hike starts in Sils Maria at the gathering point for the horse carriages. Here you leave the main road and choose the narrower asphalt road on the left between the houses, which you follow through 3 bends. You pass the large 5-star hotel Waldhaus towering over Sils. From now on, carefully follow the signs to Muott'Ota ... many side paths here can confuse you!

Via Muotta da Güve, you reach the hiking trail that leads you over the ridge to Muott'Ota. Watch out for the cows here ... 'Mother cows' can sometimes be a bit aggressive, especially when calves are around ...

From here you continue walking into the valley and descend through the alpine meadows to Alp da Segl ... an ideal spot for an afternoon rest ... and a piece of homemade apple pie with whipped cream ... or simply a glass of fresh milk. The farmhouse has a beautifully restored roof in plattas da Fex. When you continue the hike, you can visit the old quarry of these stones with a small detour not far past the alp.

Along a wide path, you descend a bit further towards the valley floor. At the first hairpin bend (to the right), however, you go straight ahead and take the forest trail for about 1.5 km until the turnoff on the right descending to Crasta (with the picturesque Santa Margarita Church). From Fex-Crasta, follow the arrow signs to Platta and then to Sils Maria. Via the "gorge," you reach your starting point again.
