Roadbook
The walk starts at Plaun da Lej. Head back toward Sils for a moment. A narrow path runs alongside the road. After a few hundred meters a hiking path starts to the right and upwards. What follows is a slow climb to Grevasalvas (Heidi village), our first reference point on the walk. Enjoy the authenticity of the village here for a while and take some time for a snack.
Then walk calmly through the modernized Blaunca. From here, follow the signposts to Maloja ... just watch out at the fork near Plan di Zoch ... choose the descending path that ends via the hamlet Pila near Maloja Palace. Along the way you enjoy the beautiful views of Val Fex, Val Fedoz, Val Bregaglia, Lej da Segl ... and an overwhelming abundance of flowers!
Maloja ... ideal place for a picnic ... or just to relax on the terrace of the charming Schweizerhaus ...
From Maloja Palace head towards the “head of the lake” (Capolago) and choose the lakeside path on the right-hand side of the lake.
Near Isola (isolated village), just before crossing the small river, briefly follow the path to the right ... you will be surprised by a beautiful waterfall. Then return on your steps and continue the hiking trail to Sils Maria.

Book recommendation by the author
- The catchment area of Lej da Segl includes the water coming from Piz Fora, Fedoz glacier and of course the Inn (coming from Piz Lunghin)
- Lej = lake / Segl = Sils (Rhaeto-Romance)
- Grevasalvas:
- Grevasalvas literally means 'white scree slope' and that is no surprise since the rock of Piz Grevasalvas (the highest peak west of Grevasalvas) is very light in color.
- The village was the setting for one of the Heidi movies, namely the film released in 1952 and directed by Luigi Comencini
- Johanna Spyri (1827 - 1901):
- Swiss author of children’s books including Heidi
- Her books offer a critical view of life in Switzerland during early industrialization – especially the fate of children was close to her heart
