This challenging and at the same time breathtakingly beautiful circular hike starts at the Obertauern Passhöhe and initially passes the Seekarhaus through gentle alpine meadows. The path winds its way up to the picturesque Oberhütte by the lake, which invites you to a first break with homemade products – a real highlight halfway through.
From the Oberhüttensee, it continues further up into the alpine terrain. The ascent to the Steirische Kalkspitze (2,459 m) and then to the Lungauer Kalkspitze (2,471 m) requires surefootedness and stamina but is rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view of the Niedere Tauern, Schladminger mountains, and the Lungau alpine landscape.
The descent leads back via well-marked paths towards Obertauern and finally to the Passhöhe, where the loop of the hike closes.
