The crossing of the Stanserhorn is challenging and quite long. This variant leads from Wiesenberg up to the ridge and then very steeply down to Stans.
The Stanserhorn is one of the most popular lookout mountains in Central Switzerland thanks to the Cabrio cable car. For fit mountain guests, this crossing is a real endurance test. From Wiesenberg, the signpost here shows just under three hours to the Stanserhorn, we first walk leisurely to Ober Leiteren, then follow 400 steep meters elevation to Blatti. As a small reward, a wonderful view opens up over Lake Alpnach to the Pilatus. Afterwards we hike along the ridge in the upper part of the Obdossen forest to the Rinderalp. At the junction there, we take the left path, which leads us back to the ridge, and so pass the mountain station to the summit of the Stanserhorn. At the triangulation point, we enjoy a panoramic view to the Bernese Alps and recharge at a break in the revolving restaurant for the descent. This leads us first back to the Rinderalp and then on a very steep zigzag path via the Bluematt mid-station and Kälti station down to Stans.
