Stage 9: King Stage

From the Edmund Graf Hut, the first ascent of the stage leads to the Kappler Joch at 2,672 m. Here the circle of the high trail slowly begins to close – on the opposite valley side, the first stages come into view. The further descent leads to the picturesque Blankalakes and to the Durrichalpe, one of the most beautiful places in Paznaun in terms of scenery. The following arduous ascent via the alpine path to the Spiduralpe at 2,120 m can be rewarded by a short rest at the alp. From the alp, the trail leads to the Niederjöchl at 2,346 m, from where you follow a beautiful ridge along to the Pezinerspitze, 2,550 m. The Pezinerspitze is the last summit and a magnificent viewpoint in all directions. You can enjoy a view back over some of the stages covered. The descent leads over the northern side with a view towards Strengen in the Stanzer valley, past the Kleingfallalpe to Falgenair. There the trail turns again towards Paznaun valley and after the first hamlets of See you reach the last stage destination in the village of See via the road.
