The Kandelhöhenweg runs through the Black Forest in five stages: from Oberkirch via the stage destinations Gengenbach, Oberbiederbach, Waldkirch and St. Peter to Freiburg. The last stage starts in St. Peter, the starting point of our tour. It mostly runs on forest trails along the ridge of the Flaunser-Rosskopf ridge. Splendid views are offered in the first section from Lindlehöhe down into the Glottertal, in the middle part of the route from Streckereck into the Föhrental and finally from the Rosskopfturm into the Upper Rhine Valley.
From the bus station at Zähringer Eck in St. Peter, go first through Zähringerstraße towards the town center to Bertholdsplatz. Cross it and walk on a footpath on the left side of the street down to the Weiherloch parking lot on the road to Stegen, walk about 50 m on the right side of the road, cross the street just before the Kreuz inn and climb uphill on a meadow path towards Lindle. We pass the Hornweiher and reach an asphalted side road at the intersection Beim Hornhof. We continue straight on the gravel path towards Langeck- and Lindlehöhe and thus leave the Kandelhöhenweg, which branches off left towards Freiburg. We will rejoin it in about 45 minutes. Our detour over Lindlehöhe is well worth it, as the route offers many scenic spots with distant views, including to the Feldberg. About 5 minutes after leaving the junction, we turn left onto a footpath that leads us along the border between forest and meadow first to Langeckhöhe and then to Lindlehöhe, where a beautiful view of
