Beautiful views, two stream crossings, vineyards, and goat pastures characterize it. The ascents and descents are challenging but not overly strenuous. A short "scrambling path" makes the route interesting.
Manubach lies in a romantic side valley of the Rhine. The local Protestant church is dedicated to St. Oswald of Northumbria; a vineyard and a seasonal wine tavern are also named St. Oswald. Hence, the hiking path bears this name.

Safety information
General safety instructions:
- Wear weather-appropriate, functional clothing that protects you from cold and wet or heat and sun.
- Plan your stages with adequate breaks and use your energy sparingly.
- Bring enough fluids. Refreshment options are not available everywhere.
- Please wear suitable hiking boots that provide sufficient support even on slippery and steep or rocky and uneven paths.
- If you believe certain sections of the path are not passable for you, you should bypass them. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections.
- Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. Expect such path irregularities when hiking.
- Particularly steep and clearly dangerous spots are naturally secured with railings or ropes. Please treat these safety measures accordingly. Railings are intended as fall protection and not as climbing frames or lookout towers. Please treat these safety measures accordingly. Roadbook
First, you have to overcome a short ascent before the St. Oswald loop runs along the edge of the village slope. It slowly gains height through a forest, where a forest lounge invites you to rest. A few hundred meters further, you shouldn't miss the marked approx. 200 m detour to a particularly beautiful viewpoint.
Back on the path, it goes down through an oak-hornbeam forest. Upon reaching the valley bottom, the Gailsbach must be crossed before ascending again on the other side of the road to a cozy picnic area. A scrambling path leads on rocky ground through stunted oaks uphill. At the top, a beautiful meadow path runs along the edge of fields and forest to a barbecue hut.
From there, the descent through the vineyards back to Manubach begins, where you pass through a goat pasture and, of course, the church that gives the route its name. Shortly afterwards, you are back at the starting point of the St. Oswald loop.
