From the post office in Sils-Maria you walk to the base station of the Furtschellas cable car, where you register at the ticket counter with your Aximo card (deposit CHF 10 round trip). The cable car takes you to the mountain station. Up there, there are various options: having a terrace, descending between the mountain peaks, romantic strolling and daydreaming in nature or perhaps visiting the small petting zoo with rabbits and mountain goats.
Author’s recommendation
- This family hike takes about 03:00 hours (minimum walking time).
- Family hike from 6 years old, but with the petting zoo included, suitable for all ages.
- Not accessible for strollers and wheelchairs.
- Sturdy walking shoes.
- Bring enough water with you.
- Note: the beginning is quite challenging. Not fully recommended in rainy weather.
- If you arrive by bus, you return from Sils-Maria Posta. If you come by car, you walk to the base station Furtschellas. There is ample parking at the base station.

- When you step out of the lift, go to the right. You pass through a turnstile and immediately go to the left.
- There you will already see some explanations about the water route. Go here, on the left, upwards until you come to a junction with arrows. Here you follow right. You can recognize this path by the white-red-white marking. In this case, it is a post with a figure in front (see photo).
- It is also highly recommended to continue right on the route, because the first ascent is quite challenging and not as comfortable as descending.
- From here you can't really get lost if you continue to follow the white-red-white poles and signs.
