St. MagdalenaSafety information
The Fluchtsteig is well maintained and secured with wire ropes or wooden bridges at exposed sections. Also doable with children with good supervision (and more exciting than along the asphalt road).Tips and suggestions
- The former toll road into the Halltal has been closed to public traffic for safety reasons since summer 2012. It is possible to take a taxi to Halltal.
New: Shuttle bus to St. Magdalena every 2 hours on Saturdays and Sundays from the parking lot at the Halltal entrance between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., return between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Price per trip: €5 for adults, €2.50 for children. The bus runs until September 7. Taxi shuttle service - About St. Magdalena in Halltal in Wikipedia

Roadbook
The parking lot built anew and very generously in 2012 at the entrance to the Karwendel Alpine Park is our starting point. Just a few more meters on the former toll road and we reach the entrance to the Halltal, which has been closed to individual traffic since 2012. Immediately after the barrier, we keep left and first follow the forest road for about half an hour, then the adjacent hiking trail. Orientation is very easy as we always follow the valley course, parallel to Halltalbach and the road. At the large and renovated water catchment below the "Bettelwurfeck," we have the choice to continue on the "Fluchtsteig" (recommended!) or to climb the Bettelwurfeck to the second loading hut on the road. The Fluchtsteig — once used by salt miners as an avalanche-safe access and descent — poses no special difficulties; a few exposed sections are well passable thanks to steel cables and bridges. Above the Bettelwurfeck — the second loading hut is briefly visible — the path continues easily through the forest on the northern slope of the Haller Zunterkopf to St. Magdalena.
Descent through the Eibental: From St. Magdalena, follow the forest road behind the church back into the forest until it ends after about 300 m. Then continue on the directly adjoining hiking trail, initially flat, then partly quite steep (but without risk of falling) down through the Eibental until we join the ascent path again at the large water catchment. Return to the parking lot the same way as the ascent.
