Between Ludwigsburger Hut and Luibisboden, a magnificent high trail runs across the slopes of the mighty Geigenkamm, which hardly receives the recognition it deserves. The reason is probably the considerable length and narrow path, which keeps the number of hikers limited. So we can expect genuine mountain solitude when we direct our steps over jutting ridge shoulders and balconies covered with alpine roses, through boulder-filled bowls as well as gullies and high dents with gurgling streams. And all the time, the jagged Kaunergrat parade stands on the opposite valley side, already bathed in sunlight in the early morning. Along the way, dreamlike places invite you to linger - for example at the Scharscharte, at the Gampen, at the Schoaßkopf or at the Luibisboden. Mark Zahel
