With a lift system, hospitality businesses, and feeder roads abundantly equipped, a large part of the Seiser Alm today is a well-developed, often even overdeveloped area, as evidenced by a steady stream of visitors. However, this does not apply to the southwest of the alpine plateau around the Tschapitalm, which is no coincidence part of the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park. Although the north-side normal route to the Schlern passes through this corner, the varied crisscross hiking via Gstatsch, Saltner-, Laurinhütte and Sattler Schwaige conveys much more intense impressions.
Ascent from Seis with the Seiser Alm cable car to the mountain station in Kompatsch. Here we follow the town road 200 m to the right (south) into the center of Kompatsch, 1844 m. On the crossing Seiser Alm road we walk a few meters to the left, then turn right and initially uphill on the asphalt road (path no. 7) first to the south, then to the east to a fork. We turn right onto the natural road no. 10 and hike through beautiful meadows past picturesque hay huts with a wonderful view of the Schlern and the peaks of Euringer and Santnerspitze. Upwards southwest to the crossing path no. 5A/5B and beyond on the fenced footpath no. 10 through meadows steeply down to the southwest to the cross path no. 5, 1902 m, with concrete driving tracks. The path leads us gently downhill through beautiful meadows to the Tschapitbach and beyond to Gstatsch Schwaige, 1845 m. There we follow the driving path no. 5 straight ahead and reach after 10 minutes walking time the inviting Saltner hut, 1830 m,
