Bad Sulza looks back on two traditions that at first glance seem quite incompatible: salt production and wine growing, a combination that alone stirs the taste buds in thought. In the landscape, however, the two not only harmonize calmly with each other but also lay the foundation for the renewed bloom of this spa town, which is also called the "Tuscany of Thuringia" (note: nothing beats a catchy slogan!). This walk spans from the graduation tower Louise at the beginning and the end of the hike to the vineyards and estates on the heights marking the southwesternmost tip of the Saale-Unstrut wine region.
With the parking lot at our back, we turn right at the entrance and after 50 m turn right onto a footpath. Through the wine gate (photo top left) we pass the graduation tower and continue straight ahead. We ignore junctions to the right or left; rather, we follow the road over the railway tracks where it becomes the little road Unter den Sonnenbergen and bends left. Sabine Gilcher
