Sonneck, 575 m, from Oberried to Kirchzarten
On the edge of the Zarten basin at the foot of Schauinsland, Hochfahrn and Hinterwaldkopf
In the Zarten basin to the east of Freiburg, the lowlands rise up over several peaks to form the Upper Black Forest. Surrounded by mountain peaks, the Dreisamtal offers sporting activities for every taste. In addition to hiking, golf and paragliding, the main town of Kirchzarten is particularly well known for its mountain biking scene. Every year in July, the Black Forest Ultra Bike attracts thousands of cycling enthusiasts to the region. Connoisseurs appreciate the easy hiking trails and the gentle heights for a leisurely stroll, combined with a stop on the panoramic terrace of the pilgrims' restaurant on the Giersberg.
