Small Alpsee height

From the hiking parking lot Schlettermoos we walk shortly through a raised bog landscape gently uphill, then through a forest section and soon reach open terrain. Here, almost level, parts of the premium trails of the hiking trilogy Wasserläufer and Himmelsstürmer are walked, which as long-distance trails – well developed – could whet your appetite for more. We reach the first small alpine hut, the Siedelalpe; here too there is a possibility to stop for a rest on the rustic terrace in good weather.

Here we then head northwest over a narrow meadow path ascending to the proverbial highlight of the small hike, the Jugethöhe (1024 m). A splendid view over part of the Alpsee lying down in the valley leads further southeast into the Allgäu High Alps.

A note in the summit register attached to the summit cross could also document these beautiful impressions for posterity...

As a small reward for our efforts, a stop at the Jugetalpe below the height awaits us, which was rebuilt after a fire in 2011 and offers small and tasty dishes. (Tip: Allgäu sausage and cheese platter!)

So strengthened, unfortunately we have to start on the return journey. On developed paths, we go back to our parking lot at Schlettermoos. This is also interesting for winter guests as a starting point for many well-groomed cross-country ski trails. Also located here, charmingly enclosed and presented, is the (actual?) source of the Lower Argen, which joins with the Upper Argen in the lowlands and flows into Lake Constance.
