Slow Trail at Lake Maltschach

Starting at the beach area on Lake Maltschach, follow the access road to the lake heading north, then leave the paved road at a crossroads 50 meters ahead by turning left onto a paved walking path that leads slightly uphill across a meadow. After a short switchback, you’ll reach the first scenic spot, which is what makes this trail so special. From here, the trail winds gently up and down in a westerly direction across a meadow to a few houses; the route always follows the Slow Trail signs and is practically unmissable. At a farmhouse, turn right and head uphill briefly on asphalt, then through a shady forest to a romantic viewing bench at a scenic spot. Continue along a forest path to Mattersdorf; here, turn right onto the paved road and, after about 100 meters, turn left again onto a path through woods and meadows leading to the Matterdorferhof, which features a romantic pond. Then head south across a somewhat mossy meadow and through a forest to the Trippel Winery. From here, follow a somewhat winding path (please ask for directions) between houses (the villa is on the right at the fork) and, with a wonderful view of the lake, reach the starting point in just over five minutes.
