There are few places in the Julian Alps that invite you to linger as much as the meadows of Sleme ("ridge, mountain ridge"). From the small sheep alpine pasture with several tiny ponds, the Jalouc (Jalovec) appears like a huge crystal, whose peak rises into the sky like a horn.
From the Vršič pass summit (signpost and large stone next to the road with marking and bronze plaque as signpost) we go through mountain pines on a wide path with the sign "Sleme" up to the Vratica saddle, 1807 m. Shortly we walk to the right down into a green valley with larches, mountain pines and large boulders. On our way we pass a cliff to the Mala Pišnica valley (short, somewhat exposed section). Shortly afterwards, a path branches off to the right to the Planica valley, 1770 m ("Tamar, Grlo"). Here we keep left towards "Sleme" (signpost on a tree). Soon we reach the beautiful meadow Sleme, 1820 m, with old larches and small ponds reflecting the Jalouc. From here we can climb the summit of Slemenova špica, 1909 m, over the broad ridge to the north in a few minutes. We have an impressive view into the Planica and Mala Pišnica valleys, to the mountains of the Martuljek group beyond the Vršič, to the Moztrovka–Jalouc (Jalovec)–Vevnica (Veunza)–Ponca (Ponza) ridge, to the Karawanks
