The hiking trails mainly run through forests of the municipalities of Kaub, Dörscheid, and Weisel. The Tiefenbach Valley provides the setting for these trails, especially for variants B and C. In this valley, you will also find the two former slate mines "Kreuzberg" and "Glückauf".
Important note: The slate loops B and C also pass through "Dörscheider Wald". The municipality of Dörscheid has forbidden us from marking hiking trails there. Therefore, please use GPS navigation for this route or refer to the map (flyers with an overview map are also available at the information board).

ATTENTION!!! Please note!!! The municipality of Dörscheid purchased forest from Weisel a long, long time ago. This hiking trail passes through "Dörscheider Wald."

Please use GPS navigation for this route!
We start on Jahnstraße heading towards Altpforter Straße and cross it at the height of the Blücher monument. Behind the Blücher monument, a path leads us down to a service road. After about 300 meters, we make a short detour to the Roman burial mound.
We follow the signs and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view over the Hunsrück from the top. After crossing the asphalt road, we keep right on the long variant C. Shortly after, the path leads downhill into the Tiefenbach Valley.
At Neuweger Berg, we make a hairpin turn and after some time arrive at the Tiefenbach. Here we find a small waterfall. We continue to follow the Tiefenbach towards its source.
Passing the former Glückauf mine, we cross the Tiefenbach after a while and then reach the Kreuzberg mine. Here, a residential house and various utility buildings still exist, where a local sculptor has made his home.
We follow the path to the junction where the middle route variant B splits from the long variant C. Variant C continues straight ahead. We pass two small wetlands and come to a path leading to the L339 road. We quickly cross the sometimes busy country road and walk parallel to the road on a trail through the forest to a small parking lot. Here is the source area of the Harbach.
After about 300 meters, we meet the Bucher Weg and follow it to Lindenwiese. We walk across Lindenwiese past a small biotope parallel to the paved path until we meet it. Soon after, we cross Neupforter Straße and walk through Birkenweg to the Blücher monument. We cross Altpforter Straße and then pass behind Hannott’s Restaurant back to Jahnstraße, the starting point of our loop.
Postscript February 2023:
Unfortunately, we have noticed that the signage has been "tampered with" on almost all paths. Signs have been torn down or sprayed, posts torn out and stolen, or reinserted twisted.
At first, we tried to replace the missing signs, but now there is a lack of new signs and capacity to constantly check the trails.
We therefore strongly recommend using navigation and looking at the map for hiking the routes.
One can only speculate about the motives behind so much vandalism.
