Siurana is a legendary, ancient village on an almost inaccessible rocky spur, surrounded by canyon-like gorges, some of which are flooded by the water of a reservoir. The incomparable location of Siurana offers wide views over the Priorat and up to the Montsant and evokes romantic feelings. The rock walls of the surroundings are a paradise for the world’s best sport climbers. Nowadays, a narrow road leads up from Cornudella, but there are no charming footpaths. Our hike does justice to the rugged and captivating character of this landscape. It follows the reservoir into the primeval gorge of the Siurana River. Then it goes up a path cut and paved into the red rocks through the steep walls to a fascinating rock ledge and along it to the Siurana spur. We return along the "Cami vell", the old path: The steep mule track takes us down and over the typical dry, schist soils of the Priorat over a pass back to the reservoir and to Cornudella.
