Silbersteig

On this tour, you walk “in the footsteps of the miners”. Along the way, many display boards tell you the history of Bodenmais and mining. The hike starts at Bodenmais market square and passes the Old Town Hall and the “Hüttenbruck” along Silberbergstraße to the Silberberg valley station. From here, it continues upwards on comfortable forest paths. You pass the Barbarakapelle. Here there is a beautiful view of Bodenmais. It continues to the excavation site Vitriolhütte and Schönebene. The route then leads to the above-ground mining site “Gottesgab”, on narrow paths to the “Burnt-out Place” and finally to the Silberberg middle station with the historical visitor mine. A visit underground completes the historical experience of this tour before the return to Bodenmais is started.
