The hike first leads upstream along the Bregenzerache. After about 30 minutes you reach the turn-off to a fairly steep forest path (without trail markings!). This leads after several switchbacks into the wide Hohe Wacht Weg, which ends at a large agricultural estate that is passed. Following an asphalt road northwards, you reach the marked hiking trail to Bächerstraße at the edge of the forest after about 500 m. This leads downhill back to Kennelbach.
Author’s recommendation
The hike is possible all year round (although not recommended in snowy conditions!) - the afternoon sun (from 2 p.m.) brings especially beautiful impressions on the outward and return journey.

Safety information
The hiking trail is at your own risk, without major risks, but can be well managed with surefootedness. The partly steep ascent from the river to Hohe Wacht Weg can be quite wet (slippery danger!).Tips and suggestions
Along the hike, the hiker encounters some interesting information boards from the municipality of Kennelbach, which explain the significance of timber use and the drifting of logs on the Bregenzerache.Roadbook
Start at GH Krone in Kennelbach (Vorarlberg/Austria) going upstream along the Bregenzerache. Hikers "encounter" information boards from the municipality of Kennelbach about the use of the Bregenzerache as a transport route for the timber industry. After approx. 30 minutes (just after an information board) the path clearly turns uphill towards Hohe Wacht Weg. The ascent in the forest is steep and partly slippery (good footwear needed). Beautiful views of the valley below await you. After 20 - 30 minutes the ascent joins the wide Hohe Wacht Weg. Following this northwards you reach a wide plain and cross it to a large agricultural estate. After approx. 500 m on an asphalt road, a marked hiking trail branches off to the left at the edge of the forest, which connects to the "Bächerstraße". Following this downhill, you pass an interesting natural monument (massive gneiss block) and just before the village entrance the striking "Lochmühle". The hike ends at the starting point at GH Krone, which invites you to stop for refreshments.
