A loner among many celebrities

Among the heights surrounding the inner Gadertal, the Settsass is a lonely, quiet character. Surrounded by many celebrities – Lagazuoi, Col di Lana, Pralongià, Sella, Sass Songher – this rock ridge running west-east cannot compete "externally" with its surroundings. However, its suitability as an excellent viewpoint and a climbing route leading to its summit make this outsider interesting for hikers.

From the valley station of the Pralongià chairlift, take an easy ride up to the mountain station. Now follow the forest road over wide alpine meadows gently uphill eastwards to the Berggasthof Pralongià, 2157 m. Then take route No. 24, along the northern side of the Col Störes, over alpine pastures southeastwards to the saddle beyond the hill, then ascend the magnificent Störes meadows to the right junction of route No. 23 at two dilapidated wooden huts. From there, take route No. 24 to the left (northeast) upwards, then through a block zone to another fork just before the Pizzadejoch, 2260 m. Turn right and take the marked path (no number!) briefly eastwards to the northwest ridge. Ascend on the ridge or left of it on its northern side over scree and blockwork to the summit of Settsass, 2571 m. Descend along the ascent route.
