Moimenta is one of the best-known villages in the Montesinho Natural Park. It is situated on a terrace overlooking the deeply carved valley of the Tuela River. The trail first leads to a viewing platform, which offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views in Montesinho. We then descend into the valley and return to Moimenta via the beautiful medieval Ponte d’Às Vinhas.
In front of the church in Moimenta is a beautiful fountain, which serves as the starting point for our loop hike. We follow the paved path marked with yellow and red signs through the tiny village until we reach Rua Direita, where we turn left. At the next opportunity, we turn right onto Travessa do Forte. We follow this street until it meets Rua da Gasparona at a large village square used for festivals. We cross the square and walk past a public building on the left. Then we keep to the right and hike out of Moimenta on a new paved road. After about 1.5 km, we turn right onto a small mountain road that leads us through a beautiful granite landscape and, after about 5 minutes, to the Miradouro de Moimenta viewing platform, which offers a stunning panoramic view. From here, the trail—which requires sure-footedness in places—leads downhill into the Tuela River valley. At the valley floor, we reach the paved road (N-308). We cross the river on the road bridge and immediately afterward
