The Sentiero delle Mole starts from Rifugio La Guardia (altitude ~1,100 m) and reaches Rifugio Campogrosso (~1,450 m), crossing the picturesque Val del Rotolon, in the stars of the Vicentine Piccole Dolomiti. The path retraces ancient trails used to transport the gigantic millstones — the "mole" — extracted from the limestone rocks of the valley. The first part of the route winds through beech and red fir forests, then past visible landslide areas and rocky grounds until the final section opens into high-altitude meadows. The panoramic views range from Val d’Agno to the Vicenza plain. The excursion thus offers both a cultural and natural experience: you encounter quarry remains, World War I relics, and complex geological phenomena of the area. With a significant positive elevation gain, it is suitable for those who nevertheless desire a full day in the mountains.
Towards the end of the 18th century, the route was among the few drivable roads, underlining the economic importance of millstone production at the time.
