Idyllic Semsvannet is one of Asker's most popular outings – and for good reason. Semsvannet is a gem surrounded by lush nature, cozy streams, beautiful swimming spots and abundant wildlife. If you walk around the lake, you will mostly be on gravel roads where you will pass horses, sheep, cows and a freshwater farm.
It is a nice round for both young and old. The round is just as nice to cycle as it is to walk. Along the way there are several nice swimming spots and benches. At Tømmervika/Tangen there is a great picnic area with a nice lawn, a bathing jetty, benches, an outdoor toilet and trash cans. Right next to this area you will find "Hundejordet". It is a nice fenced area where dogs can run free and swim. The area is closed in winter.
Parking is available at Holtmarksvei. Here you will also find an outdoor toilet in the direction of Tveter farm. Here it is closed off with a barrier. If you continue past the barrier, you will quickly reach several cozy bathing areas. Here it is also possible to bathe with horses.
Then just follow the gravel road along the water and up to Tveter farm. Tveter farm consists of rented party rooms and the weekend-open restaurant Bryggerihuset. On the opposite side of the water you will find, among other things, the Nakuhel center, which has a cafe open Monday - Friday: 10 am - 3 pm and Saturday - Sunday 11 am - 3:30 pm. Here you can buy, among other things, delicious waffles with jam and sour cream.
It is also possible to choose a path to the right a few hundred meters before Tveter farm. But this is narrow and more winding than the gravel road and goes through pastures. Along this path you will find a rope swing from a tree that can give the youngest (and the older playful ones) a fun swimming experience. Further on you will come to Tveiterfossen. Another natural gem consisting of a 5 meter high waterfall. Here the main outlet to Semsvannet enters from Gupuvannet.
Semsvannet was named Asker Municipality's Millennium Site and has many visitors every day. It is recommended to take a jog around the lake in the scenic surroundings, before finishing with a refreshing swim.
In winter, there are ski trails across the lake. Semsvannet is also the starting point for several great hikes in Vestmarka. The lake is located in the immediate vicinity of Skaugum farm, where the Crown Prince and Princess live.
Parking at Holtmarksvei. When you drive from Skaugum, there is a red barn on the right just before you turn up towards Sem guesthouse, where there are also good parking options. From here, follow the blue marked path towards Nakuhek on foot. Sem village house is also an alternative parking option.
