Starting from the parking lot at Leppener Alm, a forest road leads to the entrance of the hiking trail. This passes the Ochsnerhütte - the Knappensee and continues over the Seidernitztörl (highest point of the tour) to Seidernitzsee.

The Knappensee is very nicely located and invites you to linger with numerous display boards and information about gold mining. From here you also have a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains. For families with children, the tour up to Knappensee is definitely recommended.

From the hotel, drive towards Greifenburg. At the intersection, turn left towards Lienz and follow the road to Irschen. At Gröfelhof, turn off the B100 (Drautal federal road) and follow the well-signposted path to Leppener Alm. The last approx. 9 kilometers are not paved! There are sufficient parking spaces available for cars.
