In a side branch of the Obersulzbach valley, the Seebachsee hides in a quiet cirque with protected shoreline flora. On the hike there, one remembers not only the lake but also the bubbling Obersulzbach, the upper and lower Seebach waterfalls, the view from the Seebachalm into the Obersulzbach valley, and towards the Großer Geiger.
From the Hopffeldboden car park, we walk along the road to the Gstreif bridge. Before it, we turn right onto trail no. 41 and toil in a zigzag over a rather steep mountain shoulder. About where we enter the National Park core zone, the incline "normalizes." We still have to cross a larch slope and a boulder field before reaching the inviting rest area at the Seebachalm after the Gittl spring. On a wide path, it goes flat to another alpine hut, then left behind it over the Seebach and with moderate ascent past the charming upper Seebach waterfall and a hut into the basin of the Seebachsee. Those who do not want to descend the same, somewhat shorter route cross the Seebach no longer on the way back but instead descend to the right on a marked forest and meadow trail to the Obersulzbach and, after crossing it, reach the valley road before the Schiedhofalm (formerly Poschalm). On this road, they go left over the Berndlalm down to Hopffeldboden.
