The starting point of the hike is the market square of Ummerstadt with the town hall, the market fountain, and the numerous lovingly restored half-timbered houses. From there you walk towards Lindenau. First, you come to the livestock market with the mighty building of St. Bartholomew's Church. You continue straight ahead, finally crossing the old stone arch bridge spanning the Rodach, and after about 50 m turn left onto the hiking trail towards Gemünda.
You follow this path to the Rodachtal nature reserve and waypoint (WP) 19. There you cross the main road and follow it towards Gemünda until WP 17. Here you turn onto the gravel path leading to WP 16 at Schulzsee. A seating area invites the hiker to take a short rest. From here you continue along the path marked U5 to WP 14 and further along the paved path on the "Green Belt" to WP 12 at the rear Schüttkopf.
There you turn left towards the front Schüttkopf, staying on path U5 until you finally reach WP 13. From here the route turns right. After a few hundred meters, the Neusee lies on the left of the path. After a short rest, you continue the hike to WP 21, where you turn right onto the path to the Willersberg industrial area and follow it to the crossroads (after about 800 m). From there you take the path on the left.
After another 450 m, there is an option for a small detour (left) to the viewpoint at Eller. Back in the valley, you reach Coburger Street through a narrow alley between the houses. Via Marktstraße, you return directly to the market square of Ummerstadt.
