From the Feldernkreuz, the Schöttelkarspitze appears quite inaccessible, as a strikingly layered rock pyramid; you can get a good idea of the brittleness of its rock from the path to the Fischbachalm. Not a worthwhile destination, especially not for hikers? On the contrary, the crossing from Seinskopf to Schöttelkarspitze not only leads to summit heights, it is also a top-class tour overall, offering plenty of variety, thrilling views and a great Alpine panorama. In summer, the famous Karwendel flora blooms to the left and right of the trail.
Just to the right of the Isar bridge in Krün, 863 m, the ascent to Seinskopf begins, well marked, partly shady. After half an hour, the trail leads directly to the romantic Hüttlebachklamm gorge, at the Schwarzkopf (rest bench) there is a first magnificent view down into the Isar valley and to the Zugspitze. Then it's back into the forest, the trail winds uphill in short hairpin bends, then crosses two ditches (spring) on the left to a hill, 1570 m, where the trail branches off into the Schöttelkar. In a narrow gap, 1700 m, the north ridge of the Seinskopf is gained; beyond it yawns the wild Schöttelkar in the depths, above it stands the cross-adorned summit. The path now keeps just to the right of the ridge, emerges from the forest and finally gains the height of the Seinskopf, 1961 m, via the rugged summit slope.
