The starting point of this hike is Zillreith/Halleinerhütte in the municipality of Krispl. You follow the forest road past the Halleinerhütte and turn right into a wooded area. At the end of this wooded area, you reach a forest path for about one kilometer, then the hiking trail including a ridge (which can also be easily bypassed) leads up to the summit of the Schlenken. The descent passes the front side past the Schlenkenalms over the forest road back to your starting point. The last section before the Halleinerhütte can be hiked back through the forest or along the forest road.
