A tremendous elevation difference (over 1300 meters!) and the high alpine atmosphere make the ascent of the Scheiblingstein from the north side one of the most challenging in this guide. Passing the lovely meadow of Laglalm, the route follows the marked »Sepp-Wallner-Steig« through the steep rock funnel of the Laglkar, then over a northern side ridge to the height, until finally a fabulous mountain panorama opens up at the summit. From the Leopolden parking lot, follow the forest road with path no. 625 1 km south into the background of the Dambachtal and there to a junction at a distinctive right turn, 968 m (Dambach spring). Now continue straight on the footpath, ascending the forest slope in broad loops, overcoming a valley step and passing a water source, bending sharply left (southeast) up to the valley flattening at the uninhabited Laglalm, 1324 m.On path no. 625 (»Sepp-Wallner-Steig«) a bit to the right (west), then left in a southern direction, passing below the Laglmauer upwards into the Laglkar, here right over a grassed scree slope (rockfall danger!) partly in switchbacks up right (west) into the Laglmauerscharte, 1820 m, finally steeply up in two switchbacks (right - left) to a small saddle on the side ridge of the Laglmauer. Following the marked path sometimes directly on the ridge, sometimes in rocky terrain left or right of it, ascending southwards to the main ridge of the Haller Mauern and there
