Scheffheu circular route

The demanding Scheffheu circular route begins in Mundelfingen. The district of Mundelfingen is the largest district of Hüfingen. There is ample parking available on Hermann-Mäder-Straße. Mundelfingen is known for its numerous baroque artworks. A detour to the Peter Thumb Church is highly worthwhile.

Our route leads us to the Randen, whose ascent right at the beginning requires our first reserves of strength. But once on the Randen, we are rewarded with a fantastic view and a beautiful panorama over the Black Forest all the way to the Alps.

After a short break, our route leads through spruce, larch, and mixed deciduous forest, over the Scheffheu, to the viewpoint at Geißhorn. There it opens up a beautiful view over Achdorf and reveals the next stop of the hiking route. In Achdorf, a rest can be taken, and after a hearty snack, the remaining distance is tackled.

Uphill towards Jungviehweide, we return to the starting point Mundelfingen. We first follow the paved path and later the gravel path straight ahead. With a magnificent view back over the Wutach valley, we finally reach the very scenic Jungviehweide. Here we are in a time when the young bulls of the nearby region still spent their summer refreshment here. The path then gently leads down to the village of Mundelfingen with its beautiful baroque church by the famous master builder Peter Thumb back to the starting point. The church impresses with the harmony of tower, nave, choir, interior design, and décor, which forms a stylistic whole in pure Baroque.
