The Schäfflerweg is a beautiful hiking loop starting in Peißenberg, the market town of the still lively mining industry.
Up to Tritschenkreut, the path is almost continuously accompanied by a magnificent panoramic view of Lake Starnberg, the industrial monument Raisting, and the Alpine massif. A wonderful panoramic loop in the beautiful Alpine foothills.
Author’s recommendation
A visit to the Mining Museum in Peißenberg is worthwhile. After the mine closed in 1971, the museum kept the history of the industry alive.

Roadbook
We start the Schäfflerweg at the train station in Peißenberg heading northeast. At the first opportunity, we turn left and follow the street until St. Michelsweg, where we turn slightly left. At the wayside shrine, we turn left again onto a private path leading to a hidden root trail. Here begins the steep ascent to the Hoher Peißenberg. Through the picturesque forest, we walk along the wild-romantic Michelsbach stream. At the Saint Michael Chapel, we steadily ascend on the asphalt path and follow the path up to WM 13. This path is accompanied by a wonderful panoramic view of the pre-Alpine lakes region and the Alpine massif. We cross the state road and pass a small forest on a rooty path, but be careful here as we pass by an archery range. We hike to the hamlets Schreiner and Windkreut, where we choose a forest road and follow it for a long time until WM 29. We turn right onto the state road and leave the asphalt road again before the railway line to the right. Now we have reached the Thalacker residential area and walk through Peißenberg heading south back to the train station.
