Follow the paved road for a few meters until you reach the wooden sign at the bend, pointing toward Furmeyer—Chemin de Janome—which you should follow. The trail is marked with yellow signs.
The trail winds through the forest along the hillside on the right bank of the Drouzet River, then climbs in switchbacks until it reaches a ridge, which you’ll follow uphill (caution: the trail is poorly maintained, and some sections have collapsed).
The trail then runs alongside a field overlooking Furmeyer. The yellow trail markers are painted on wooden posts.
Once you reach the village, continue to your left toward the church, and turn onto the first path to the left after the church (almost directly across from it), through the fields. Pass in front of a new house and follow the field to the end, then turn right through the trees and climb a short way to reach a ridge (the trail is marked again), which you’ll follow for a few meters before descending back into the forest.
Then follow the trail, then the paved road that leads back down to the bridge.
Author’s recommendation
You can extend the hike by taking the Tour du Fay loop, which starts at the top of the hamlet of Furmeyer (duration: 1 hour 30 minutes, elevation gain: 250 m) and offers a view of the Pic de Bure.
