The Sierra de Baza, today a natural park, was formerly an important mining area. From Roman times until 1983, various mines extracted gold and lead, among other things. The mining history of the Sierra de Baza is vividly presented on a 5 km long theme circular route. Numerous newly erected display panels and viewpoints along the way provide information about history and landscape. This round tour takes us via the Minas del Carmen to the highest summit of the Sierra de Baza and back to the starting point via the Sendero Santa Bárbara. The path is well marked with new posts. The mine entrances close to the path have been fenced off for protection.
